Britains Racing Colours horse and jockey in the colours of leading owner The Honourable Miss Dorothy Paget. These colours were first issued by Britains in 1936. The eccentric Miss Paget had a large string of jumps and flat horses including the 5 times Gold Cup & Grand National winner Golden Miller, and the Derby winner Straight Deal.

This set is in truly excellent condition. Whilst not flawless, I have had dozens of these pieces from the Britains Racing series in the last 10 years or so and this one is a real beauty. PLEASE STUDY ALL THE PHOTO'S CAREFULLY AND ZOOM IN TO SEE THE CONDITION. Both the horse and jockey are structurally sound and intact. All paint work is original as it left the factory 80 years ago!

The jockey has a good face and the paint work is bold and strong all over. There are paintwork chips to the groin area, the inside of both knees (mostly the left) and the peak of the cap. The horse I consider to be quite a rare paint finish as all four of its legs are a nice brown.

I think every brown/chestnut horse I've seen before has 1, 2, 3, or 4 white socks. But these are all a nice chestnut colour making it quite rare I believe. The paint work on the rest of the horse is a lovely chestnut colour as opposed to the more common darker brown and bays. There's a few paint chips and these are clearly shown in the photo's. It is a pre-war horse with no nose band.

Despite the paintwear as described these two look really great. They have the Britains stamp underneath. The box shows signs of natural aging but is clean and strong with original tissue. The base of the box has a 1cm puncture but it is still firm and won't get any worse, maybe a knife or similar caused it?
