Britains Soldiers/ Original set # 2014 US Marine Band /Winter Dress 21 pieces
The US Marine Corp Band - Winter dress. This band was produced between 1948 and 1955. Each piece is in what can be described conservatively as very good condition!! This magnificent 21 piece band was only available from 1948 to 1955, making it both rare and sought after. While the rest of the Marine Corps had dark tunics in full dress, the band traditionally wore red with black frogging, and in Winter dress- as depicted in this set, dark Blue.
The drum major is based on standard type, with peaked cap, red tunic and gold frogging, and staff. The musicians are 2 Euphoniums, 1 Double Bass Tuba, 3 Saxaphones, 1 Tenor Horn, 4 Trumpets, 2 Fifes, 1 Cymbals, 1 Side Drummer with. 3 Clarinets, and 1 Bassoon, plus the Band leader. This set preceeded the USMC band in review order: set #2112 in Summer dress, which was avail from 1956-60.
That 25 piece band featured bandsmen in White pants and had. The set is virtually nick less and very few cap nicks exist and no nicks or marks are evident on the base, and all instruments and arms etc are totally intact. As a unique bonus to this set , 4 additional bandsmen are included..
1 Sousaphone, 1 added Fife, 1 French Horn, and 1 Double Bass Horn. Which makes the set display 25. This is a set for the Britain's collector.. Perhaps a one time opportunity.
