Charbens Soap Box Racer Set Very Rare Pre-war Lead

  

CHARBENS SOAP BOX RACER SET. A very rare pre-war Charbens 54mm hollow-cast lead Soap Box Racer Set, comprising Soap Box Racer, Boy Scout riding and Boy Scout pushing. The Soap Box Racers were so named because they were typically made out of wood from discarded soap boxes. The Racer is approximately 60mm (2.4 inches) in overall length.

All three pieces are complete and undamaged apart from a little play-wear/paint loss. The wheels turn freely, although a little wobbly. There is a small casting hole just above the waist of the Boy pushing. The Racer and the Boy pushing are marked underneath RD (twice) but there are no maker's marks on the Boy riding.
