W Britain No. 2080 Sailors Marching at Slope w Officer, pre-1960 Britains Excel
For your consideration, a set of toy soldiers from my Father-In-Law's large and varied collection, amassed and curated with love for over forty years. He will be sharing the collection exclusively on E-bay over the next few months, so stay tuned for more items like these. This is a Britains lead figure set No. 2080 from the British Sailors, Types of The Royal Navy collection, first manufactured in 1953. The set comprises eight 54 mm figures: seven Sailors and an Officer. The fact that it's an 8-figure set indicates that it was made between 1953 and 1960; after 1960, the set consisted of only 7 figures. The soldiers come in their original, labeled box with inner card mount. The card and elastic string are from later than the soldiers and box. The box is in pretty good condition with a couple of tears. Top label is very nice & complete, side label has been ripped and is supposed to say Royal Navy No. 2080, With Officer, Made in England. Soldiers themselves: as close to mint as I've ever seen. I'm not a W Britain expert, but I think any expert would be fine with calling them excellent. Shiny, paint intact, bayonets all line up, no indication that these have been played with.
All pieces intact, all arms move freely. In terms of overall condition, it's one of the nicest I've seen! They'd be a handsome addition to any collection. As always, please feel free to contact with your thoughts on condition or pricing; it's always lovely to hear from other collectors.
