1880s 1st Ed. Her Majesty's Army Complete. Walter Richards Superb Colour Plates
1880s 1st Edition "Her Majesty's Army" Complete in 2 Volumes. This is the classic 2-volume set from the late 1880s period published by J. The full title is "Her Majesty's Army A Descriptive Account Of The Various Regiments Now Comprising The Queen's Forces, From Their First Establishment To The Present Time". This is presumably a First Edition as there is no mention of any earlier editions.
A very useful reference for Model Soldier Collectors, Modellers and reinactors. The two volumes contain a complete set of 29 colour plates plus 2 superb vignettes. Quite a rare set of books when in this complete condition as generally in the past the books were torn apart by Print Sellers and the plates framed and glazed for display. The superb red leather binding has gold blocking to the spines and the books have real presence and tactile authority.
Obviously a few minor marks and signs of age but generally a superb bright, clean, straight and true presentation with only minor wear to the outside bindings.
