W Britains #182 11th Hussars Pre-War, Whisstock Box! As you can see from the photos, the set (from my father-in-law's collection) is four colorful figures next to their horses, representing a storied history. The soldiers look to be in wonderful shape.
One of the best things about this set is the original, lovely Fred Whisstock box, which I believe places this set around 1925 or just after. The box is fairly distressed and has two small holes, but the artwork and signature are as great as ever! The pre-war issue and box make this set more valuable than post-war versions from what I can gather.
Whenever I see these good-looking soldiers in old boxes, I wonder if they may have been repainted along the way. If you're W Britain expert, please feel free to weigh in and help me find the correct price for these fellows! My father-in-law had them valued quite high, but w.
Ith these older and potentially valuable sets, it's sometimes hard to set a fair price. So it's good to be patient, but when I get close, I often find myself receiving quite a few offers, so if you really want a set, please try not to be "too" patient, so as not to be disappointed!I try to donate a small portion of soldier sales to the DAV in honor of all who served. It's not much, but every little bit helps! Thank you for your interest in this lovely set.
