Britains Racing Colours lead horse and jockey. The jockeys colours are those of Lord Glanely and were first produced for the Britains series in 1936. Black jersey with red white and blue sash, red white and blue hooped cap. Lord Glanely won all the British Classic races between 1919 and 1941 including Grande Parade in The Derby and Colombo in the 2000 Guineas. Please study all the photo's carefully for the condition of the items.
The jockey is missing the tip of his whip but otherwise is structurally sound. He has several paint chips all over and the paint is particularly worn on his lower legs and seat of his pants. But the paint on his jersey, cap and face is still bright and strong despite this wear. The horse is in very good condition. A nice grey with air brushed effect. Some paint chips as shown, but not too many at all really. There is a slight hole in the tail (as shown), but this is part of the hollowcast lead manufacturing process. They either have a small hole on the nose, tail, or both. One slight flaw is a tiny dot of the brown saddle paint on the rear left rump side of the horse from when it would have been originally hand painted in 1936. All the paint on the horse and jockey is 100% original from when it left the factory. The box is a pre-War example with the original tissue inside.
It is old, slightly discoloured and has a diagonal stain on the top side. But generally it is really good condition for its age. There is some writing on the inside lid which says Black Pampas Black.
I've seen this on several examples before. This is one of the rarer models and worthy of any vintage Britains collection.
