JOHILLCO STREET GAS LAMP & CLEANER SET. A rare pre-war John Hill & Co. 54mm scale lead hollow-cast Boxed Street Gas Lamp Set, comprising. The Lamp stands 142mm (5.6 inches) in height. It is marked underneath its base JOHILLCO TOY ENGLAND.

The Lamp Cleaner is marked ENGLAND under the base, but the Ladder is unmarked. All three pieces (Lamp, Lamp Cleaner and tapered Ladder) are complete and undamaged apart from a little paint loss, and the perspex lamp glass pieces are all present.

The original paint is the more unusual metallic finish. The bottom section of the Box is a made-up replacement, but the picture lid is original, and does have some wear and tear and age related discolouration.

The standard scale used by Britains and other toy figure manufacturers is 1:32, in which the average height of a man is 54mm (2.12 inches), generally known as 54mm Scale. All items are packed carefully and securely in mailing boxes.
